It is important that you tell Social Security Scotland (SSS) if you go into hospital because if you are claiming Adult Disability Payment, this will stop after you have been in hospital for a certain amount of time.

Adult Disability Payment

Adult Disability Payment may be affected if you go into the hospital for an overnight stay or longer.

If you are aged 18 or over and go into hospital or for medical treatment provided by the NHS both the daily living component and the mobility component will stop after 28 days.

The 28 days can be made up by a series of short stays in the hospital if they are separated by no more than 28 days.

However, it is important to know that you will still receive Adult Disability Payment if you are terminally ill and go into a hospice.
