Can I appeal if I disagree with a decision?
You can ask the Social Security Agency to look at their decision again – this is called a mandatory reconsideration. You have one month from the date of the decision to ask for this and you have to go through this process before you can appeal.
You can appeal against most Universal Credit (UC) decisions. There are some things you cannot appeal against including the benefit cap and having to pay back overpayments. Any appeal goes to an independent tribunal (The Appeals Service) to look again at the facts.
