The Carer's Premium is £38.85 a week paid on top of other benefits you might be claiming.

These are the following:

  • Income Support (IS)
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Housing Benefit

You can also get an additional amount on top of Pension Credit. This is called the 'Carer Addition'.

You can also get an additional amount on top of Pension Credit.

To get the Carer's Premium added to your benefit, apply for Carer's Allowance (CA). You may not get paid CA if you are getting other benefits like State Retirement Pension. But you will still be better off because of the Carer's Premium. You can read more about Carer's Allowance and how to apply in the What is Carer's Allowance? section.
