Severe Disablement Allowance was a benefit you could get if you were too unwell to work, but you can't make a new claim for Severe Disablement Allowance anymore. The SSA have replaced Severe Disablement Allowance with Employment & Support Allowance (ESA).

We can't say when the SSA reassess you for ESA if you claim Severe Disablement Allowance, but your local Jobs and Benefits Office may be able to tell you. The SSA will contact you when they are going to review your Severe Disablement Allowance claim and you do not need to do anything before they contact you.
